Liang Zhao, VP Corporate Controller

Ms. Zhao has nearly 20 years of combined experience working as an accounting and finance leader in the biotech industry and as a client-serving professional in public accounting, specialized in the biotech sector. For the most recent 11+ years, Ms. Zhao has been in finance and accounting leadership roles at various fast-growing biotech companies in both commercial and pre-commercial stages such as Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Afyx Therapeutics A/S, and Sorrento Therapeutics, where she oversaw accounting, tax and finance operations, building teams and infrastructures, advising and guiding public and pre-IPO companies on accounting and tax strategies for complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, spin-offs, joint ventures, complex debt and equity financings, product launch and multi-element revenue arrangements, etc. Prior to joining the Cullgen team, Ms. Zhao was the Vice President, Corporate Controller at Quantum-Si Inc., a Nasdaq-listed protein sequencing company that launched its platform product in 2023. Ms. Zhao started her career with the Deloitte audit practice in South Florida and subsequently worked as an audit and assurance manager in the Ernst & Young San Diego office. Ms. Zhao received her Master of Accounting degree from Florida State University and her bachelor’s degree from East China Normal University. She is a certified public accountant (inactive) in California.
